Honey, I Shrunk The Adventurers!

Summary

The party gathers at the House of Adventure, fully rested and ready for a new quest. They are instructed, upon acceptance of the task, to go to the arboretum for further details, provisions, and to meet their druid guide. As they arrive, the place is curiously empty. Moving in slightly, they hear a commotion in a back room, followed by a cry for help. Regardless of their next actions, a small figure bursts from the room, a bag slung over one shoulder, and a strange apparatus in the other. The figure, too focused behind them, run right into the party, and the strange apparatus briefly bursts into brilliant radiance, blinding the party. As the stars fade from their eyes, and their vision returns, the party finds themselves standing among the now giant plants of the arboretum, shrunk down to the size of common ants! The figure that ran into them is nowhere to be seen. Presumably, whatever that strange apparatus did to shrink them may be able to undo this predicament! As they adventure through the landscape of the arboretum, they encounter insects both helpful and dangerous, before finding the roguish figure that placed them into this mess. Whether with the figure's help or not, eventually the party finds the apparatus, and after reclaiming it from a hazardous burrow, they return themselves to their former size.

Quick Info

  • The roguish figure is a halfling rogue named Tally Tallfree. She works for a local, small-time (no pun intended) thieves' guild. She is all bluster and no backing, finding herself even more in trouble than she was before. She will honestly and dutifully help the party, if given the option.

Scenes

Arboretum Arrival

The party arrives at the arboretum, runs into Tally (literally), and gets shrunk to the size of aphids.

Finding Their Footing

The party sets out into the now massive arboretum enclosures. They adventure around, until they are set upon by ant-riding fey creatures. They can choose to fight or befriend these creatures: fighting yields some supplies and a map, allowing for easier navigation; befriending yields allies and riding ants, allowing for much easier navigation!

Crossing Paths

Whether through information on the map, or information shared by new allies, the party learns that a "falling star" was seen in one of the further enclosures. They must traverse through additional wilderness, before having to cross the chasm of the arboretum foot path!

Finding Tallfree

They find Tally again. She's pretty roughed up, explaining (if the party will listen), she ran into a group of grubs that tried to eat her! She managed to escape, not unscathed. She will apologize, and offer to earnestly help. The party can accept, or reject, or even respond with hostility. Regardless, either through Tally's aid, or found in a bag she either drops running away or is found on her body, the party recovers the key needed to operate the apparatus.

The party and potential entourage is set upon by "giant" sparrows!

Apparat Us At Last

Finally, they arrive at the apparatus, only to find it being manipulated by a group of centipede-riding fey. A battle over the device ensues, with only the victors getting larger!
