title
Nightmare on Flint's Street, Session 2

Current Objections

  • Establish a viable route from the interior to the Far Territories for the army

Events

  • We move into the hamlet proper. The workers scurry away, but we manage to convince one to wait and speak with us.

    • She informs us she works to please the Ayrzul worshippers, to protect her from the Mhar worshippers, who would tie her to a bonfire in sacrifice.
      • That's enough evidence for Sir Tern; judgement time.
  • We move towards the cave with smoke and chanting.

    • We first come across some "workers" (read: slaves) maintaining a fire. We engage the task-master, and a mephit flies in to hamper us further. With little trouble, we dispatch the enemies, and free the workers.
    • Stackor smothers the fire using stone shape. As he does so, we are set upon by additional enemies.
    • Sir Tern moves to engage, and eventually emerges from the smoke to discover a Bushyasta, a div from the outer planes of evil, standing astride an unholy altar. We smite that sucka and his corrupted Mhar-worshipping oread wizard friend.
    • Surveying the place, we discover an imprisioned oread, that Tern begins nursing back to health. We find much loot, which gets distributed or readied for selling. Finally, we remove the cauldron and destroy the altar.
  • We move into a second cave.

    • Within, there are scurrying workers, and an oread that approaches, named Brother Opal.
      • We learn that this reason knows of and respects the power of the Fossilized King, Ayrzul, though they do not worship it. Previous to Mhar's increased worship, the focus on Ayrzul was also less, but with Mhar's increased worship, Ayrzul's following became more fervent.
    • We are led to Prophet Pumice, the keeper of the oracle. He described his position.
      • This causes some hesitation to just smite the bitches.
    • We decide to visit the oracle of this cave. As we descend, there is a massive ape skull revealed from the cave wall. It has many offerings in it's hanging-open mouth, and is surrounded by magical torches. It emits a significant evil aura. Prophet Pumice suggests avoiding provocative questions.
      • Tern first asks what should be done to establish order and a reliable trade stop for the army in Flint.
        • The oracle suggests that no standing army will ever be safe in Flint. We must be sure that the army visits, takes what it needs, and moves on. This will be the only way they will be safe. To achieve this, we need someone motivated by wealth, but never the strength to oppose our army, calling the shots.
      • Stackor asks who in the Dark Tapestry is coming to destroy this planet, and how to stop them.
        • The oracle says there are many powers from beyond racing for this world. The oracle told us the name of the fastest, but Prohpet Pumice did not understand it. The impression is something vast and much greater in scope than it's competitors, though also the least in terms of position.
          • Stackor further interprets this to possibly mean Nyarlathotep
      • Stackor next asks about the status of the Verdent, and if the army will find allies there.
        • The oracle simply says that the progeny obey the elders. Pumice explains further that the elders in this case are also given an astral significance, related to being of the stars. Thus, elders of the stars, or from the stars.
      • As Stackor steps back, a voice rings out from the skull. Speaking in Terran it says, "Boobons listen well, I do not care what happens to the people here, but I care about the green stone. If you return it to my temple to the north, and seal my temple from prying eyes, I will give you the weapon you need."
        • Pumice the Prohpet informs us the green stone is upstairs, and he'll give it to us. It is an artifact of the Fossilized King, taken from a temple to the north in Felgrithe Canyon, by pilgrims long ago.
      • Tern steps up asking about the evil released from the mines in flint, and for assistance defeating it.
        • The oracle is silent, and Pumice explains it is probably time to save questions for later and depart. He advises, if we do return, not to ask the same questions. (Good thing there's a record of them eh?)
    • Returning to the monk chamber, Prophet Pumice brings forth a significant fang-shaped green stone, which we obviously identify as a giant irradiated rock.
      • Stackor teleports back to House Goremon in Rhyme, drops all the stuff from his Bag of Holding in his room, teleports back, and puts the giant radiation rock into the Bag of Holding by itself.

Locations

  • The Flint Pits, a communal mine a few hours north of Flint
