20-Second Game Jam 2025 Entry: TBD
This repository is the source for my 20-Second Game Jam 2025 entry. It requires DragonRuby to run from source, but builds should be provided on the releases tab and my Itch page once there's something worth sharing!
Rules
-
Submitted games must last for 20 Seconds or less, start to finish.
- There should be 20 seconds of gameplay, not including titles, menus or cutscenes. You are highly encouraged to minimize these elements or make them skippable to let the player get into the game as quickly as possible.
- Every play-through or level should be a separate, self-contained, 20-second experience. Don't carry pick-ups or learned skills from one play-through or level to the next. Sorry Mario, you can't keep that fire flower.
-
All submissions must be playable video games and you must include a free version that runs in web browsers (more info in the FAQ).
-
Be respectful and tolerant towards participants and players.
-
Games containing mature themes or material that is not suitable for young audiences should be very clearly marked.
Concept
You find yourself standing before a console of a crashing space ship. You must stop catastrophe. To do so, there is a series of actions that you must take, which will take you precisely 20 seconds, which is exactly the time you have remaining. Good luck.
Basically, the player has to discover and take all necessary actions in a specific sequence. Actions may include pushing a button, flipping a switch, and similar. Some actions may reveal other actions, for example pushing a button may open a panel, revealing additional buttons, switches, etc.. There will often be multiple options, all but 1 of which will be wrong.
The expectation is for the player, through trial-and-error, to discover the proper sequence.
